EXPERIENCE AVANA

ABOUT AVANA

Avana Byron was built by hand by a man who's crossed 55 countries, trained alongside Wim Hof, and knows firsthand what it takes to find your way back. Set on 5 acres in the Byron Bay Hinterland, this place was born from family, loss, reconciliation, and a stubborn belief that the right land can change people. Cold water, breath, fire, space. Come see what Alex Southcombe and his family are building.

GLAMPING STAYS

Sleep under canvas by the creek, wake up to birdsong, and let the rest of the world wait. Avana Byron is open for solo getaways, couples, and family weekends. Our luxury bell tents sit right on the water, with wood-fired sauna, ice baths, fire circles, and five acres of hinterland to roam. Sometimes you just need a place that lets you breathe again.

HOST YOUR RETREAT

Avana Byron sits on 5 acres of subtropical hinterland with a creek running through it, wood-fired sauna, ice baths, glamping for up to 60 guests, and purpose-built spaces for everything from intimate circles to large-scale ceremonies. If you're a retreat leader looking for land that matches the depth of your work, this is it.

Not an escape. A return.

Avana Byron is a fully private, nature-immersed retreat venue in the Byron Bay Hinterland. Set on five acres of rainforest along the Wilsons Creek River, the property is designed for facilitators who want to create something real with their people without worrying about logistics.

Covered outdoor practice spaces. A wood-fired sauna by the river. Bell tents with proper beds. Two kitchens. Outdoor bathrooms with glass roofs. A fire circle for when the sun goes down.

We've hosted breathwork retreats, Wim Hof weekends, movement intensives, corporate off sites, intimate healing circles, and casual family gatherings.

People enjoying a summer outdoor gathering on a lawn with trees in the background, some under a canopy tent, some sitting or lying on towels, and others standing or walking around.

Indoor workshop room, two fully equipped kitchens. Wood-fired sauna and two cold plunges. Fire circle and communal outdoor dining.

Five acres of rainforest. River. Sauna. Silence.

“It’s like a piece of heaven fell from the sky and softly landed here for us all to bask in. This is a true garden of Eden. ”

  • "Hosting my Yoga Teacher Training at Avana was an incredibly positive experience. The space is beautiful, with a peaceful atmosphere that created the perfect container for both learning and deep connection. My students felt immediately at ease and consistently shared how much they loved the environment. Every detail was thoughtfully taken care of, which allowed me to fully focus on facilitating the training. From the accommodations to the shared spaces, everything supported the flow of our program with ease. Communication with the team was clear, responsive, and supportive from start to finish. I always felt heard and confident that anything we needed would be handled. I would absolutely host another training here and highly recommend Avana to any facilitator looking for a stunning and well-supported retreat space."

  • "I stayed in one of the bell tents by the river during a big life transition, and it was deeply healing. The space is peaceful and grounding, with constant birdsong and a calm atmosphere that makes it easy to slow down and reconnect with yourself. The owner is kind and welcoming, which added to the overall sense of care and intention. I would highly recommend Avana Byron for anyone looking for a self love getaway or a quiet reset.

  • "Avana is such a beautiful spot to connect with nature and individuals. I have now been to a few events ran there and each time I have come away full of life and relaxed. The facilities are amazing and set up extremely well. The sauna runs off a wood fire, just a few steps away from a creek and/or 2 ice baths to cool off afterwards. The events are also very well curated. There is always an amazing blend of workshops covering many different practices I would not have otherwise discovered. Beautiful place ran by beautiful people!"

Making us feel like this Paradise on Earth. Such an ideal place for retreats, workshops and events to be hosted."
